New Delhi: Rohit Sharma etched his name in the record books during Mumbai Indians clash against Sunrisers Hyderabad at the Wankhede Stadium. He hammered 3 sixes in a brisk 26-run knock off just 16 deliveries. His first maximum which flew off a leading edge to the third-man fence marked a special milestone placing him alongside RCB icons Chris Gayle Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers.
With that shot Rohit became the first player to hit 100 sixes in IPL matches at the Wankhede. Interestingly this feat came shortly after the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) gave the green light to dedicate a stand at the venue in Rohits honour.
Most sixes at a venue in IPL:
Virat Kohli - 130 Sixes at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium Bengaluru
Chris Gayle - 127 Sixes at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium Bengaluru
AB de Villiers - 118 Sixes at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium Bengaluru
Rohit Sharma - 102 Sixes at the Wankhede Stadium Mumbai

Sunrisers Hyderabad posted a total of 162/5 in their allotted 20 overs largely due to the tight and well-planned bowling effort from the Mumbai Indians. Remarkably SRH didn’t register their first six until the 18th over — quite surprising for a side recognised for its big-hitting abilities. However they made up for the delay by clearing the ropes five times in the final 17 deliveries of the innings.
