Madhya Pradesh Power Transmission Company (MP TRANSCO) on Wednesday carried out an official demolition drive to remove unauthorized constructions near the 132 kV Bhopal-Lalghati Extra High Tension Line in the Sharda Nagar area of Nariyal Kheda, Bhopal. This action followed a serious accident in which two residents—Farhan Khan and Guddu Khan—were severely injured.
The incident occurred on April 12, when a cement sheet shed was being installed on a house and both individuals came into contact with the induction zone of the extra high tension line. As a result, the power line tripped, and electricity supply was disrupted for around 9 minutes.
S.K. Dubey, Additional Chief Engineer of MP TRANSCO Bhopal, stated that during post-accident patrolling of the line, it was found that the mentioned constructions were in violation of safety standards and posed a serious risk to human life. Consequently, unauthorized structures at house numbers 470 (Guddu Khan), 448 (Khalil Khan), and 361 (Naseem Khan) in Sharda Nagar were demolished.
Dubey also mentioned that nearly 275 such hazardous and unsafe constructions have been identified across Bhopal. Approximately 900 notices have been issued so far to the owners of these buildings. They are being counseled again, and action is being taken as necessary.
