DA Hike: Gujarat government has made a big announcement for government employees. After the central government, now this state government has increased the dearness allowance of employees by 2 percent. This decision has been taken in the cabinet meeting. In the state cabinet meeting chaired by Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, dearness allowance has been increased under the 7th Pay Commission.
It was decided in the meeting that the dearness allowance for government employees and pensioners will be increased by 2 percent, the benefit of which will be available to them from January 1, 2025. This means that along with the salary of April, the money of the outstanding allowance from January will also be sent to the employees’ account.
DA increased by 6% under the 6th Pay Commission.
Announcing this practical and beneficial decision taken under the leadership of the Chief Minister, State Government Spokesperson and Health Minister Rishikesh Patel said that the dearness allowance of the employees benefiting from the Seventh Pay Commission has been increased by 2%. The dearness allowance of the state government employees benefiting from the Sixth Pay Commission has been increased by 6 per cent. The difference in dearness allowance from January 1, 20,25, to March 31, 2,025, will be paid in instalments with the salary of April 2025.
How much pressure will be on the government treasury
The benefit of this increase in dearness allowance will be given to the state government, panchayat service and other employees. A total of 4.78 lakh employees and about 4.81 lakh retired employees i.e. pensioners will get its benefit. For this, Rs 235 crore will be paid to the government treasury as outstanding allowance and additional annual payment of Rs 946 crore will be made in the form of salary allowance and pension.
The central government has also increased the allowance
The central government had increased the Dearness Allowance and Dearness Relief a few percentage few days ago to benefit crores of government employees and pensioners. This increase was done under the 7th Pay Commission, after which the DA of the employees increased to 55 per cent. This increase is effective from January 1, 2025.
