A woman shared her unsettling experience with a recruiter who allegedly sent her inappropriate messages on WhatsApp while discussing a job opportunity for a Personal Assistant (PA) role in Noida.

In a post on the Reddit page ‘r/IndiaCareers’, the woman shared the post titled, “Am I in the wrong for feeling creeped out over this?”

Describing the opportunity, the woman said that she had applied for the job and that the compensation was up to the mark as well.

“The pay is good, but the person/recruiter is being extremely creepy. I'm pretty sure this isn't the industry norm. Before this conversation, he even asked me if I was married! This is so disheartening,” she said in her post that accompanied a screenshot of her conversation with the recruiter.

According to the screenshot, the recruiter, instead of addressing her query about salary structure, responded saying: “If u don’t mind can u send one full pic.”

The woman firmly declined, replying: “I do mind, yes. I can send you my other details like a passport pic etc after I am given the offer letter.”

In another message, the recruiter asked for her Instagram profile, saying it would help “show your personality for the PA profile.” Her response was stern: “May I ask why that is relevant? If you want to schedule an interview, I would be more than glad to answer your questions over there.”

As the post went viral on Reddit, social media users criticised the recruiter’s behaviour and warned others to remain cautious while looking for jobs. Many advised the woman to report the incident to the job portal or the company involved.
