A day earlier, Varanasi Commissioner of Police Mohit Agrawal told the media, “A 19-year-old lady filed a formal complaint on April 6th, alleging that many of her companions had sexually assaulted her at various places on various occasions. In all, 23 persons had been implicated by the lady. Fourteen persons were taken into custody in this case.

Families of individuals identified in the FIR and those who were detained arrived at the police station today (Thursday) with pieces of evidence that included films showing the lady in dubious poses at ghats and other locations between March 29 and April 4. She appeared in a few of the videos. Additionally, several individuals have reported being extorted for money. They further claim that she should have called the police sooner if she had been raped many times.

“A 6-member SIT has been formed to be led by a DCP-rank officer, which will probe the case,” he said. The victim’s father had previously described the agony his daughter had to go through.

“My daughter left home to visit her friend,” the victim’s father had previously said. She experienced all of these events shortly after. On March 29, she went away from home to spend a day in the ghat with a friend. After that, she started interacting with males, and three to four days went by.

We were all anxious, and we made an unsuccessful attempt to locate her on our own out of dread of criticism. On April 3, we went to the police. On April 4, the cops located her. She wasn’t feeling well. She recounted the whole episode after receiving therapy and returning to normal.

The authorities claim that the girl was raped for many days after being seduced and taken away. Over the course of seven days, the victim claimed to have been raped by twenty-three persons. The other accused is still being sought by the police.

“She was gang-raped after being repeatedly drugged by many persons. The large number of guys involved suggests that it was a deliberate effort. In her intercourse, my daughter focused on commerce and intended to pursue athletics. Her age is 19.

I don’t identify or know any of the accused. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has a reputation for handling these situations delicately. I implore him to treat us fairly. He said previously that although he does not call for the guilty to be executed, the penalty has to be so harsh that it makes individuals reconsider raping others.
