Shimla girl Nidhi Gangta is living her dream in Mumbai—but it all started with dance. In an exclusive chat with Times of India TV, Nidhi opened up about her journey from a small-town dancer to landing her first big TV break in Tose Naina Milaike .

“I am from Shimla and always wanted to be a professional dancer,” she shared. “But living in Shimla, it is difficult to have dreams like this. I joined a dance academy there and came to Mumbai with a dance course. After coming here, I realised I can also act. It makes me happy.”

Nidhi credited her family’s unwavering support despite initial reservations. “Initially, they were a bit skeptical because I am the only child and for them it was very difficult to leave me. But then later on they supported me, and they have always been there.”

Unlike many newcomers who face financial constraints, Nidhi considers herself fortunate. “I find myself very lucky and fortunate that my parents were always very supportive, so I did not have to struggle in terms of money and other basic things that other actors do.”

She added, “I had auditioned for Shiamak Davar’s dance course and the second time I made up my mind to come to Mumbai. I was auditioning also and did a few ads.”

Nidhi’s first break came with a cameo in Main Hoon Aparajita, followed by a mythological show where she played Goddess Saraswati. “Then the third show – Tose Naina Milaika – was the big show that I got. It was my first big show that went on for really long,” she said.

Currently, Nidhi is using her time to grow and learn. “I’m learning driving. I want to learn a lot of skills. I’m reading books, and I like spiritual things a lot. Recently I’ve been into spirituality so much. I believe in Mahadev—I feel he is my guiding light.”
