April 2025 Kalashtami: Importance
Lord Kaal Bhairav is revered as the “God of Time” according to the Aditya Purana. By combining the words “kaal” from “time” and “Bhairav” from Shiva’s appearance, the phrase “Kaal Bhairav” was created. In order to demonstrate his might, Lord Shiva is claimed to have taken on the form of Maha Kaleshwar and severed Brahma’s fifth head. In order to get heavenly benefits and relief from suffering, the people fervently and devotedly worship the Lord Kaal Bhairav. The followers believe that all of their sorrow, grief, and negative effects would be removed when they pray to Lord Bhairav on Kalashtami. A violent god, Lord Kaal Bhairav is believed to protect his followers from danger and to offer them wealth and serenity. Hindu tradition includes worshipping him.
April 2025: Kalashtami Rituals
Kalashtami is a significant day for followers of Lord Shiva, who awaken early to do special puja and take a holy bath before dawn in order to receive the blessings of Kaal Bhairav. To honour the god, people visit temples, worship, and carry out rites. While some observe a fast, others listen to Mahakaleshwar’s tales while keeping watch all night. It is said that this vrat would bring success, pleasure, and wealth.
Additionally, specific rites and puja are done for the deceased ancestors on Kalashtami. One important ceremony is feeding Lord Kaal Bhairav’s vahan, or black hounds. On this day, devotees give black dogs milk, curd, and treats. Furthermore, it is very auspicious to provide meals to the Brahmins at pilgrimage sites like Kashi. Chanting the mantras of Lord Shiva and reading or listening to the Kaal Bhairav Katha are also said to be helpful. Devotees who practice Kalashtami Vrat hope to get monetary riches and spiritual enlightenment by seeking Lord Kaal Bhairav’s protection and blessing.
