The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) recently approved the use of saliva on the ball in IPL 2025. The board took this decision after the consent of the captains of 10 teams. However, it is still banned at the international level. The habit of using saliva has gone away in bowling and something similar happened with Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) fast bowler Bhuvneshwar Kumar.

Bhuvneshwar admitted that despite the rule being made again, he had forgotten to use saliva to shine the ball. Bhuvneshwar said that despite the ban on the use of saliva being lifted, he is not using it to shine the ball. The ICC had banned applying saliva on the ball to shine it during Corona. There was a ban on its use in IPL earlier as well, which has now been lifted.

Bhuvneshwar will use saliva against the Punjab.
Bhuvneshwar, however, said that he would not forget to use saliva on the ball in the match against Punjab Kings on Friday. He said I had forgotten that I could use saliva. Some staff told me but I don't remember to use it. I will try it in the match on Friday and see if it is beneficial or not.

Shami had made the demand.
IPL guidelines are beyond the ICC's jurisdiction. According to a BCCI official, applying saliva on the ball was common before Corona. Now that there is no threat of Corona, there was no harm in lifting the ban on using saliva on the ball in IPL. Earlier, experienced Indian team fast bowler Mohammad Shami had urged the ICC to allow the use of saliva on the ball.
