According to The Star, the incident occurred at a shopping mall in the Kemang neighborhood of southern Jakarta, where Sekar tried to pay with 11 counterfeit 100,000 Indonesian rupiah (US$5.94) notes. The cashier conducted a routine check using a UV scanner, which quickly identified the fake currency, prompting the transaction to be canceled. Security guards immediately reported the incident to the police, resulting in Sekar’s arrest.

Further investigation revealed that the actress was carrying a significant amount of counterfeit money—223.5 million Indonesian rupiah. It is believed that Sekar had made a legitimate purchase at a different store earlier in the day.

Sekar, 41, has been taken into custody and faces up to 15 years in prison if convicted.

Known for her acting career since 2010, she has also worked as a TV presenter.
