VVS Laxman, the head coach of the National Cricket Academy (NCA) and a former Indian cricket player, travelled to Tirumala, Andhra Pradesh, on Friday to worship at the Sri Venkateswara Swamy Temple.

One of the most popular religious destinations in India, the temple is devoted to Lord Venkateswara, a manifestation of Lord Vishnu, and receives millions of visitors each year.

The images showed VVS Laxman visiting the Lord Venkateswara Temple and performing the required rites while wearing a traditional kurta-pyjama.

Laxman most recently worked as the head coach of the Indian cricket team at the Asian Games. The ‘Men in Blue’ defeated Afghanistan in a rain-shortened match to win gold despite fielding a weaker team.

Laxman scored 8,781 runs at an average of 45.97 in 225 innings while playing for India in 134 Test matches. With a top score of 281 in a memorable Test match against Australia at the storied Eden Gardens, he has amassed 17 hundreds and 56 half-centuries.

Additionally, he scored 2,338 runs at an average of 30.76 in 86 One-Day Internationals (ODIs) for the Men in Blue. With a top score of 131, he also amassed six hundreds and ten half-centuries in the 50-over format.

‘Very Very Special’ Laxman was the moniker given to him because of his many game-winning innings and his collaborations with lower-order hitters…
