Anaya Bangar, the daughter of former cricket player and coach Sanjay Bangar, made the startling admission that she was bullied by certain famous cricket players after disclosing who she was. She said that there is a lot of “toxic masculinity” in the cricket community and that while some of her teammates supported her, many of them tormented her and used derogatory language.
After she disclosed who she was, Anaya said, several of the famous cricket players gave her their naked photos. She said that since her father was a famous cricket player, it was difficult for her to disclose who she really was. Anaya spoke about her transformational journey earlier last year, which includes gender-related surgery and hormone replacement treatment.
“There has been some harassment in addition to the support… A few cricket players have given me naked photos of themselves at random,” Anaya said, according to India Today, which cited The Lallantop.
Anaya shared her father’s desire to play cricket, although she acknowledged that there might be difficulties in carrying on after the operation. According to Anaya, she played alongside some of the top cricket players, including Sarfaraz Khan, his brother Musheer Khan, and Yashasvi Jaiswal.
“I played alongside several of the current top cricket players, including Sarfaraz Khan, Yashasvi Jaiswal, and Musheer Khan. Dad is a well-known person therefore, I had to keep my identity a secret”. Toxic masculinity and insecurity are prevalent in the cricket world,” Anaya said.
“The individual used to perform gaalis in public. After that, the same individual would often approach me, sit next to me, and request my pictures. Another time, I informed a puraane (experienced) cricket player about my predicament when I was in India. He said, “I want to sleep with you, so let’s get in the car,” she continued.
Transgender women are no longer allowed to participate in international matches according to a recent regulation modification by the International Cricket Council (ICC).
