Delhi: Australia's aggressive batsman Glenn Maxwell has not been able to do anything special in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 this time. He has been struggling with poor form for the last two seasons. Playing for Royal Challengers Bangalore in IPL 2024, he scored just 32 runs in 6 matches and this time, Punjab Kings have been able to add only 21 runs in four matches so far. In the last 16 matches, he has not been able to reach even 100 runs.

Pujara expressed resentment

Team India's veteran Test batsman Cheteshwar Pujara has expressed displeasure over Maxwell's continuous poor performance. Talking in ESPNcricinfo's show T20 time out, Pujara said that there is no change in Maxwell's batting for the last several years. He says that Australian players are still showing the same game as they showed eight-ten years ago.

Accused of negligence

Pujara said that many times Maxwell's attitude seems negligent. He said, “Maxwell now needs to understand that IPL is a big platform and some matches are at stake in every match. Many times players take it lightly, but now the time has come for them to prove themselves. It is not that it is not that the patience of team management can answer.”

Difficult to stay in playing XI

Pujara believes that if there was another player instead of Maxwell, it would have been out of the playing XI by now. But Maxwell is still being given a chance due to his name and experience. Pujara said that he will now have to balance his game and prove that he is really important for the team.
