The Presidential Cycling Tour of Türkiye, one of the most prestigious and longest-running sports events in the country, is set to celebrate its 60th edition in 2025. What began in 1963 as the Marmara Tour turned into an international event under the patronage of the presidency in 1965.
Now, six decades later, it stands as a symbol of Türkiye’s sporting ambition, natural splendor and cultural richness.
Scheduled between April 27 and May 4, 2025, the race spans eight stages across 1,153 kilometers (716.3 miles), showcasing the mesmerizing landscapes of the Aegean and Mediterranean regions. The tour not only highlights elite athletic performance but also serves as a global promotional platform for Türkiye, with broadcasts reaching 190 countries, 610 million households, and 13 languages.
A total of 23 teams from 13 countries will participate, including three World Tour teams, 13 Pro Teams and seven Continental Teams. Representing 23 nations, the largest contingents will come from Spain, Belgium and Italy.
Starting in the Mediterranean gem of Antalya, riders will pedal through ancient sites like Kaleici, Hadrian’s Gate, and Yivli Minaret, all framed by Türkiye’s turquoise coastline.
Echoes of antiquity accompany this stage through Patara, Myra, and the mythical flames of Yanartas, finishing in the seaside town of Kalkan.
A visual symphony of turquoise waters and green forests, featuring Oludeniz, Butterfly Valley, Dalyan and Marmaris.
The “Queen Stage” culminates in the challenging Kiran climb. Expect fierce battles among climbers on this stunning forest-and-sea route.
A first for Aydin, this route includes Aphrodisias, an ancient city recognized by UNESCO, and meanders through olive-draped Egean hills.
A stage steeped in heritage: Ephesus, Artemis Temple and the House of the Virgin Mary form the spiritual and historical spine of this leg.
Cyclists will traverse Sirince, Seferihisar, and wind-swept coastal roads lined with mastic trees, ending in surf-famous Cesme.
The grand finale brings riders to Izmir, with its famed Clock Tower, ancient ruins, vineyards and over 500 kilometers of bike paths.
Under the auspices of the Presidency of the Republic of Türkiye and the support of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, the event is organized by the Turkish Cycling Federation. Institutional backing comes from Spor Toto, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, the Ministry of Health, the TGA, the TSYD, and local governments along the route.
Turkish Airlines continues as the title sponsor, joined by key contributors including Broster Bicycle, Turk Telekom and Shimano.
With a moving convoy of 350 vehicles, including motorcycles, helicopters, ambulances, TV trucks, and VIP shuttles, the tour is a logistical triumph. Over 1,075 staff, including 161 riders, 365 team members, 240 security officers, 200 media representatives, 19 referees, and 90 broadcast crew, will contribute to the success of the event.
Aerial footage from two helicopters and an aircraft will bring the race’s beauty to global screens, solidifying its reputation as both a sporting and cinematic spectacle.
