Rashid, the accused, lives in the Rafiqnagar area with his father, who has a disability; his wife, Nazreen, who is forty years old; and their three children. Arguments had been frequent over the last two days as a result of Nazreen’s insistence on going to her mother’s house.

Rashid reportedly strangled Nazreen in a fit of fury early on Friday, turning the situation fatal. He allegedly said that he too wanted to be murdered when he called the police on Dial 112 after the event.

Circle Officer Jitendra Sharma and Kotwali in-charge Munish Pratap Singh led a police squad that arrived on the scene quickly. Rashid was arrested when Nazreen was discovered dead. He confessed to the crime when questioned. Rashid was placed in prison by court order, and the corpse was submitted for a postmortem. According to authorities, a thorough investigation is still going on.

In a different instance in Bareilly’s Fatehganj, 25-year-old Rekha is accused of poisoning her husband Kehar Singh and then strangling him to death with the assistance of her boyfriend, Pintu. To make the death seem like a suicide, the two then hung the corpse. The next morning, Rekha put on a grieving act, warning her neighbors, who then called the police.

But the postmortem showed that strangling was the cause of death. According to ASP (North) Mukesh Chandra Mishra, “a murder case has been registered against Rekha and her lover based on a complaint by the victim’s brother.”
