RCB's Batting Performance Under Scrutiny

In Bengaluru, Karnataka, on April 19, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) skipper Rajat Patidar expressed disappointment over his team's batting display, noting that wickets fell rapidly and partnerships were lacking.

He explained that the decision to omit Paddikal was influenced by bowler-friendly conditions. Despite the challenging pitch, Patidar stressed the importance of improving their batting to secure a competitive total.

He praised the bowling attack for their impressive performance and acknowledged the batters' intent while highlighting the need to rectify batting mistakes.

“The pitch was initially sticky and two-paced, but we could have performed significantly better as a batting unit. Building partnerships is crucial; we lost wickets too quickly, which is a valuable lesson for us. We had to make adjustments due to specific conditions (leaving out Paddikal). The wicket wasn’t as bad as it seemed; it had been covered for a long time, which aided their bowlers. They deserve credit. Regardless of the pitch conditions, we must bat effectively to achieve a winning score. Our bowling unit is performing well, which is a positive takeaway. The batters have shown intent, which is encouraging. We can certainly improve on some of our batting errors,” Patidar stated during the post-match presentation.

Tim David's explosive 50 runs off 25 balls allowed RCB to reach a total of 95 after a dismal collapse where they lost seven wickets for just 42 runs.

Although Josh Hazlewood's remarkable figures of 3/14 provided RCB with a glimmer of hope, Punjab Kings (PBKS) clinched a five-wicket victory with 11 balls remaining in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium.

RCB's struggles at home continued, marking their third consecutive defeat in Bengaluru. The two teams are set to face off again on Sunday, April 20, in Mullanpur.
