at a rain-shortened encounter, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) was held to 95/9 thanks to the brilliant execution of their bowlers, headed by seamer Marco Jansen of Punjab Kings (PBKS) at Bengaluru (Karnataka) [India]. The PBKS bowlers took full advantage of the circumstances when the game was cut to 14 overs per side.

Jansen was the best player with the ball, earning outstanding statistics of 2/10. The towering left-arm pacer troubled the RCB hitters by taking use of the increased bounce and speed on the surface.

“Feel very good,” Jansen stated after the game. All fast bowlers want a little bounce and speed, and it was present here. Everyone has a part to play, and I do my best to fulfill whatever it is that I have to accomplish.

Additionally, he commended captain Shreyas Iyer’s leadership, saying, “Iyer is very clear on the field.” It makes things much easy for us, and we have nice conversations throughout training.

RCB never really gained traction throughout their innings thanks to the PBKS bowling unit’s meticulous effort.

At the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Saturday, in an Indian Premier League 2025 encounter marred by rain, rookie player Nehal Wadhera led Punjab Kings to a resounding victory over Royal Challengers Bengaluru with a calm and assured knock.

In a 14-over-a-side match, PBKS achieved 98/5 in 12.1 overs after chasing a goal of 96, marking their fifth victory of the year. With 33 runs off only 19 deliveries, including three fours and three sixes, Wadhera was still undefeated. Marcus Stoinis completed a clinical pursuit by hitting a six to end the match.

With openers Prabhsimran Singh and Priyansh Arya, Punjab got off to a fast start. But the two collapsed quickly after one other. Bhuvneshwar Kumar was the first to go, dismissing Prabhsimran for 13. Soon after, Arya fell to Josh Hazlewood after scoring 16 off 11 balls. PBKS was 32/2 in 3.4 overs at that point.

Josh Inglis and captain Shreyas Iyer both made poor attempts to steady the innings. Hazlewood dismissed Iyer for 7 and soon after defeated Inglis (14 off 17) to finish with an incredible three-wicket haul. At 53/4, PBKS began to wobble unexpectedly.

PBKS was at 81/5 after Bhuvneshwar Kumar dismissed Shashank Singh for 1. Wadhera and Stoinis, however, made sure there were no further problems by stabilizing the ship. With 11 balls remaining, Punjab crossed the finish line thanks to their cool-headed and strategic collaboration.

Josh Hazlewood was the most impressive bowler for RCB, scoring 3/14, while Bhuvneshwar Kumar contributed 2/26.

Earlier, against Royal Challengers Bengaluru, Punjab Kings captain Shreyas Iyer chose to bowl first after winning the toss.

The RCB’s innings was started by Phil Salt and Virat Kohli. Phil Salt was dismissed for four by Arshdeep Singh in the first over. Virat Kohli was joined in the middle by Rajat Patidar, the captain of the RCB.

Rajat Patidar became the second quickest Indian hitter to reach 1000 IPL runs in the second over. Liam Livingstone joined Patidar at the crease, and Arshdeep claimed early wickets, dismissing Virat Kohli for 1(3) in the third over.

Livingstone was out for four in the fourth over by Xavier Bartlett. Jitesh Sharma joined the RCB captain after PBKS players made several excellent receptions during the power play. In the seventh over, veteran spinner Yuzvendra Chahal dismissed batsman/wicketkeeper Jitesh Sharma for two. Regular wicket losses were sustained by RCB.

Manoj Bhandage, the RCB’s impact player, was dismissed for one by Jansen in the ninth over, meaning he had no influence with the bat.

Playing his first game of the season, Harpreet Brar claimed consecutive wickets in his first over. In the 12th over, he got rid of Yash Dayal and Bhuvneshwar for eight.

When it came to hitting, David was the only RCB warrior. He reached an undefeated fifty off twenty-six balls, smashing three sixes in the last over.

For PBKS, Marco Jansen (2/10) was the best bowler. Xavier Bartlett claimed a wicket, while Arshdeep, Chahal, and Brar each claimed two.

RCB is now in fourth place in the points standings, while Punjab has risen to second place.
