According to a report, India's major telecom operators Bharti Airtel, Reliance Jio, and Vodafone Idea (Vi) may once again announce tariff hikes by the end of this year.

Possibility of tariff hike in 2025
According to a Moneycontrol report, an analysis by global brokerage firm Bernstein suggests that Indian telecom companies may increase tariffs by 10 to 20 percent by December 2025. This could be the fourth major tariff hike in the last six years. Earlier, in July 2024, companies had increased tariffs by up to 25%. It is being told that this increase can be done during November-December 2025. According to the report, this tariff hike can prove to be a major catalyst in improving the income of the telecom industry.

Future income and market position

Bernstein estimates that Airtel and Jio's revenue growth will remain at a medium to high pace between 2025 and 2027. The main reason for this is the stable increase in the number of new customers and strength in ARPU (Average Revenue per User). Companies are working on a strategy to extract more revenue from existing customers rather than just adding new customers. Companies want to target a stable 10% CAGR (annual growth rate) instead of aggressive growth like 2019-2025.
