Patnagarh: A tragic incident unfolded in Nehenabandh village, located within the Patnagarh police jurisdiction, where a 25-year-old nurse was reportedly killed by her husband due to dowry disputes. The victim, Krishna Sahu, was employed at the Padmapur sub-divisional hospital in Bargarh district. Following her death, her father filed a formal complaint, prompting authorities to initiate a murder investigation and detain her husband for questioning.

Krishna, originally from Semelmunda village in Bargarh, had married Alok Sahu in 2022 in a ceremony recognized by their community. The couple had a two-year-old son together. Reports indicate that Krishna had previously sent a video to her father, depicting her husband physically assaulting her, allegedly influenced by her mother-in-law's demands for more dowry.

On the morning of the incident, Krishna was taken to the Patnagarh sub-divisional hospital after she reportedly fell ill, but doctors pronounced her dead upon arrival. Her father accused her husband of ongoing abuse. In response to the complaint, police have registered a murder case (117/25) and are currently holding her husband. The body has been sent for a post-mortem examination, with the investigating officer, Haribandhu Gadatia, stating that the cause of death will be determined after the autopsy results are available.
