Gujarat Titans continued their brilliant form by defeating Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) by 39 runs in IPL 2025. The match was played at Eden Gardens, Kolkata.
Gujarat Titans scored 198 runs in the scheduled 20 overs while batting first. Team captain Shubman Gill played a brilliant innings of 90 runs in 55 balls. Opener Sai Sudarshan scored 52 runs in 36 balls with him, while Joss Butler played a fast innings of 41 runs in 23 balls.
In response, KKR's team could score 159 runs. Gujarat bowlers performed effectively, in which Mohammad Siraj, famous Krishna, Rashid Khan and R.K. Sai Kishore was the chief. Among the KKR batsmen, Gurbaz scored 1 run, Naren scored 17 runs, Iyer scored 14 runs and Russell scored 21 runs.
The Gujarat team has topped the points table by winning 6 out of 8 matches so far this season. Earlier, Gujarat defeated Mumbai by 36 runs, RCB by 8 wickets, Hyderabad by 7 wickets, Rajasthan by 58 runs, Delhi by 7 wickets and now KKR by 39 runs.
KKR batsman Ajinkya Rahane said after the defeat that the target of 198 runs was challenging, but the team could not achieve the target due to good opening and failure in batting. He described the pitch as slow and emphasized the need for better batting in the middle overs. Rahane also described the flaws as the reason for defeat in fielding.
