The brouhaha over the pitch in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 is not going to stop. From KKR captain Ajinkya Rahane to LSG mentor Zaheer Khan, everyone has criticized the pitch of the home ground. The legends of Indian cricket escaped by criticizing directly or indirectly. But doing so has proved costly for commentators Harsha Bhogle and Simon Doull. The Bengal Cricket Association (CAB) has demanded the BCCI to stop Harsha Bhogle and Simon Doull from commentating in the match to be held in Kolkata.

Harsha Bhogle and Simon Doull had criticized the pitch of Eden Gardens Stadium in Kolkata. The Bengal Cricket Association has now complained to the BCCI about Harsha and Doull. It has requested the Indian board not to entrust them with the responsibility of commentary for the home matches of Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR).

New Zealand's Simon Doull recently said that if the curator is not paying heed to the team's request for a spinner-friendly pitch, then KKR should shift its franchise. Harsha Bhogle also said that the team should get a home advantage. KKR has lost two of its first three home matches. Harsha and Doull had criticized the curator during a panel discussion on a website on KKR's defeat.

Angry with their comments, CAB secretary Naresh Ojha had written a letter to BCCI about 10 days ago and requested to remove Bhogle and Doull from the commentary panel of their home matches. Interestingly, neither Bhogle nor Doull were on commentary during the match played between KKR and Gujarat Titans on Monday.

However, sources close to Bhogle said that the famous commentator was not selected for any of KKR's matches. It could not be confirmed whether the commentary schedule was decided before or after the formal complaint of CAB. A CAB official told PTI, "Bhogle and Dooley are no longer part of the IPL commentary team for KKR's home matches. However, the situation may change when Qualifier 2 and the final are held at Eden Gardens on May 23 and 25."
