Pura Luhur Lempuyang Temple, known as the Gates of Heaven Temple, one of Bali’s most popular destinations, is closed from April 23 to 27 for religious ceremonies.
Nyoman Jati, head of Purwayu Traditional Village, where the temple is located, confirmed the five-day closure to tourists and non-worshippers, as reported by The Bali Sun.
“I hope that the entire series of pujawali (ceremonial prayers and offerings) at the temple proceeds safely and smoothly,” he added.
Travel agents and tour guides across the island have been notified about the closure.
Pura Luhur Lempuyang Temple gained international fame after social media influencers posted photos of themselves posing between the temple gates, which frame stunning views of Bali’s sacred Mount Agung on clear days.
Bali was named Asia’s most beautiful island at this year’s annual Reader’s Choice Awards by DestinAsian magazine.
