The latest terror incident in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, was sharply denounced by State Irrigation and Civil Supplies Minister N. Uttam Kumar Reddy, who called it a shameful effort to disturb peace and communal harmony.
“I served at Avantipur Air Force Station near Srinagar, in Leh-Ladakh, and was part of the air defense operations in the Siachen Glacier,” Uttam Kumar Reddy recalled his time as a fighter pilot in the Indian Air Force. I am aware of the reality on the ground. The goal of this act was to sow discord and harm our nation, as well as to exacerbate the Hindu-Muslim split and harm Kashmir’s economy.
He commended Kashmir’s Muslim people for their solidarity in the face of terrorism. “I am especially grateful to the Muslims of Kashmir who united in denouncing the terrorist attack in Pahalgam,” he remarked.
“Those responsible for this act, as well as those who supported it directly or indirectly, must be severely punished,” Uttam Kumar Reddy said, urging swift action. This is an assault on India’s unity, not simply a particular area.
He said that a resolution denouncing the assault and restating the appeal for national unity has been approved by the Congress Working Committee (CWC). In times like this, India must remain unified. Uttam Kumar Reddy emphasized, “Now is not the time for division, but for solidarity.”
