are the ultimate lazy morning breakfast, but with one simple hack, they can be transformed into "buttery, salty perfection", according to a professional chef. Frank Proto revealed that one ingredient makes eggs beautifully crispy while keeping the yolk runny, which he said creates "the best fried eggs you'll ever make."
Frank, who shared the demonstration on the YouTube channel Epicurious 101, has been a for 24 years, so you know his advice is sound. In the live video, he greased the pan with butter until he could hear it crackle and pop, before revealing another useful tip, which is to crack the egg on the flat counter instead of the side of the pan so that the shell doesn't fall in.
Then came the magic - he revealed that adding a large knob of butter into the pan after the eggs have been cracked helps make the egg white go crispy, not just the edges.
Frank explained: "Take the butter and try to avoid the yolk, and just get it on the white. We're going to get that beautiful buttery goodness all over the egg, not just on the edges."
After they were cooking for less than a minute, he noted how a "nice caramelisation" started to appear.
When tasting the simple dish afterwards, he savoured every bite, gushing: "Butter makes all the difference here."
He said: "The yolk is perfectly runny, the whites are super crispy, and we've got those beautiful crispy edges. They're buttery, salty, perfect."
The pro-chef served it with a simple slice of toast, which he added was all you need to soak up the "beautiful runny egg".
