The development of an Electronics Manufacturing Cluster (EMC) spanning 206 acres along the Yamuna Expressway has been authorized by the Center. The project, which is situated in Sector 10 of the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) region, would have advanced infrastructure to enable electronics production, a flatter industrial complex, and designated manufacturing zones.

The project’s investor, Havells, will be given 50 acres in the electronics manufacturing cluster to build a factory that will produce lighting goods, fans, air conditioners, coolers, switchgear, and cables, among other household appliances. According to officials, the corporation would spend Rs 800 crore in the project. Production is anticipated to start by 2026, and the first phase alone is estimated to generate over 1,000 jobs.

According to authorities, the initiative, which is being developed under the Center’s EMC 2.0 program, intends to make Uttar Pradesh a major center for the production of electronics. The cluster is anticipated to draw significant investment in the electronics and related industries due to its advantageous position close to the Yamuna Expressway and the soon-to-be Noida International Airport.

“After the proposal is authorized by the Center, we will go forward with giving Havells land and completing the foundation for the remaining cluster. The CEO of YEIDA, Arun Vir Singh, said, “We anticipate that this project will have a domino effect, drawing in several auxiliary and electronics component manufacturing facilities.

The complete electronics manufacturing cluster will be created in stages, with Havells and its auxiliary partners constructing the remaining land via a special purpose vehicle (SPV). According to authorities, YEIDA would spend more than Rs 340 crore in building vital infrastructure, including roads, electricity, and a water supply network, while the Center has authorized Rs 144 crore for the project.

Of the 206 acres that make up the cluster, 39 acres will be devoted to green areas and roadways. In addition to Havells, the industrial area will include a flattened manufacturing complex on 16 acres that will house 176 ready-built apartments of various sizes, as well as 66 plots distributed over 106 acres. Startups and smaller businesses in the electronics industry will have ready-to-move-in quarters thanks to these units.

In addition to building a strong electronics center, this project will provide a large number of jobs. Officials said, “We anticipate the creation of approximately 20,000 indirect jobs and more than 11,000 direct jobs.”

The whole development is expected to be finished by January 31, 2028, and YEIDA has been appointed by the Uttar Pradesh government as the project’s implementing agency. Under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology’s EMC 2.0 program, which provides funding to state organizations for the construction of infrastructure that draws in both local and foreign electronics firms, the cluster is being created. By offering plug-and-play facilities and pooled utilities, the plan seeks to reduce production costs.

“EMC 2.0 is designed to attract major players to invest in India’s electronics sector by reducing the cost of setting up manufacturing bases through shared infrastructure and plug-and-play facilities,” a government source said.
