Read, Digital Desk : Microsoft has started rolling out its Recall feature to select Windows 11 laptops. Designed to assist users in locating documents, webpages, and images, Recall is intended to be used by retracing user activity histories. As part of the non-security preview update for April 2025, this feature is available in stages over the next month. How Recall Operates By utilizing Recall, users can easily reconstruct a timeline of their actions, allowing them to quickly access the applications, files, and webpages they wish to revisit. Unlike in the past, where users would have to provide specific file names or sift through numerous directories, They can either describe their objective using plain language, or browse through the timeline themselves. Microsoft maintains that Recall can reduce search time with documents by 70% when compared with searching numerously through windows and folders. Unlike many other features, this one does not upload any data to the cloud or externally share information. Everything is contained within the user’s device. Recall gives users the option to choose what data is saved, or users can withdraw from the feature altogether.Recall Device SpecificationsRecall is enabled only on Copilot + PCs which have NPUs for local AI task processing, as these machines perform up to 13% better than the MacBook Air M4 in terms of battery and security as well.
