NCERT has made major changes in the social science book of class 7th. Chapters related to the Mughals and the Delhi Sultanate have been removed from the new books and in their place, new chapters related to ancient dynasties, sacred geography, and government schemes like Make in India and Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao have been added. These changes have been made according to the New Education Policy (NEP) and National Curriculum Framework for School Education (NCFSE) 2023. Which has been said to give priority to the traditions, knowledge system, and local context of India.

According to NCERT officials, the books that have been released at present are of the first part. The books of the second part will come in the coming months. During this time, the officials have not confirmed whether the removed chapters will be included in the next books or not. The new book "Exploring Society: India and Beyond" now has chapters on ancient Indian dynasties like Maurya, Magadha, Shunga and Satavahana.

Pilgrimages also mentioned
The new books mention India and religious places and pilgrimages to children in chapters titled 'How the Land Becomes Sacred'. The Char Dham Yatra, 12 Jyotirlingas and Shakti Peethas as well as the confluence of rivers, mountains and forests have been depicted as sacred places. The 66 crore people who participated in the Maha Kumbh Mela held recently in Prayagraj have also been mentioned in the book. The stampede and deaths that took place there have not been mentioned in the text book.

Chapter on Tricolour
The new book also contains important chapters on the changes made in the Constitution of India and the Tricolour flag. It is mentioned in these that before 2004, people could not hoist the flag on their houses. After this, it also gives a reference to how the Supreme Court gave its verdict on a citizen's petition and how hoisting the flag came under freedom of expression. In the English book titled "Purvi", 9 out of the 15 stories are by great Indian writers. These include the works of Tagore, Kalam, and Ruskin Bond.

The opposition called it 'saffronisation'

Opposition leaders have called these changes in the books 'saffronisation'. Let us tell you that last year, NCERT director Dinesh Prasad Saklani said in an interview that by teaching children about riots, children will learn negative things and will become such citizens.
