Druk Padma Karpo School, located in the cold desert of Leh, has finally got CBSE recognition. After a long wait of about 24 years, this school has achieved this historic milestone, which will now give new flight to the future of the students here.

Druk Padma Karpo School is named in honor of the great scholar Mipham Pema Karpo (1527-1592). 'Padma Karpo' means 'white lotus' in the local language Bothi. This school has already been an example due to its special teaching method and dedication to education in the cold desert background.

Now got CBSE approval.

Till now this school was recognized by the Jammu and Kashmir State Board of Education (JKBOSE). Despite applying for recognition from CBSE several times, the process remained incomplete due to non-receipt of 'No Objection Certificate' (NOC). School Principal Mingur Angmo said that they already had all the necessary facilities, yet the approval of NOC took time due to delay. But now, after getting recognition from CBSE, students will be able to easily find higher education opportunities across the country.

There will be coordination with innovation based education system

The education system of Druk Padma Karpo School has already been different from rote learning, based on sports and innovation. The teaching method of the school is in line with the new National Education Policy (NEP), so it will not be a big challenge for the school to adapt itself with the changes in the CBSE curriculum.

Plan to study till class 12th

The school administration is now planning to start class 11th and 12th by 2028. For this, special training programs for teachers have also been started, so that the educational journey of the students can be even smoother.
