Description: Kathmandu (Nepal), April 28 (ANI): Teachers in Nepal, who have been protesting for the past 26 days demanding a new School Education Act, clashed with police on Sunday, resulting in injuries to nearly 60 educators. The confrontation began when the protesting teachers removed a police barricade and attempted to enter a restricted area. In response, the police deployed water cannons and baton charges, leaving at least a dozen teachers severely hurt, many of whom are now receiving treatment in hospitals across Kathmandu. The protests, which include both teaching and non-teaching staff from government schools nationwide, have been ongoing in the capital, with the teachers calling for revisions to the Education Bill. Each day, protesters march from Maitighar to New Baneshwor, but they are halted approximately 500 meters from the Federal Parliament. On Sunday, some teachers escalated the situation by throwing stones at the police. The Teachers' Federation Nepal, which represents school educators, has been protesting for 26 days, urging the swift enactment of the School Education Act that includes their demands. The protesting teachers have vowed to continue their demonstrations until the Bill is approved and their issues are resolved.
