A terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Kashmir has again ignited tensions between India and Pakistan, but this time on social media. Pakistani cricketer Shahid Afridi had caused outrage by terming the Indian Army "nalayak" and "kamine." Indian cricketer Shikhar Dhawan gave a stern but respectful response to Afridi, reminding him of Pakistan's defeat in Kargil and requesting him to pay attention to his country's progress rather than making such unnecessary remarks. Dhawan also showed pride in the Indian Army, closing his message with "Bharat Mata Ki Jai" and "Jai Hind." Afridi, not remaining quiet, attempted to ridicule the situation by citing the chai incident involving Indian pilot Abhinandan, remarking, "Aao tumhey chae pilata hun Shikhar."
In his initial remark, Afridi attacked the Indian Army stating, "You are useless, you are scoundrels." The strong words elicited instant criticism. Subsequently, in response to Shikhar Dhawan's stern reply, Afridi again responded with sarcasm, uttering, "Forget about victories and defeats, come, let me treat you to some tea, Shikhar." His remark was a direct allusion to the 2019 moment when Indian pilot Abhinandan was detained in Pakistan and had been treated to tea, an episode that had become viral then.

The exchange quickly went viral. While Afridi’s reply was meant to be clever, many felt he crossed a line. , on the other hand, earned praise for standing up for the army without losing his cool.
