Delhi Capitals vs. Kolkata Knight Riders, IPL 2025: In their IPL 2025 match 48 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, Andre Russell produced a devastating blow while batting for the Kolkata Knight Riders against the Delhi Capitals.
Before Russell’s 17-run cameo helped his team score a mammoth total of 204/9 in their 20 overs after being sent to bat first, he struck a magnificent 106-m six off Mitchell Starc in the final over of KKR’s innings.
Russell superbly scooped it up to throw the ball a long distance when Starc came around the wicket, missing the area, with the intention of delivering a yorker first up. On social media, the footage of Russell’s incredible hit went viral.
DC utilized two reviews for wide calls on consecutive deliveries after that, and one of the decisions was in their favor. The ball then hit Rovman Powell in the back pad after Starc caught him in front on the third delivery of the over when the batsman was being beaten for speed. Powell accepted the review, but after the first several replays, he began to walk.
Dushmantha Chameera removed Anukul Roy on the first ball he faced with a brilliant catch, giving Starc another wicket on the next delivery. DC achieved a team hat-trick when Russell was run out on the last pitch of the inning. In his four overs, Starc claimed three wickets for 43 runs, while captain Axar Patel and Vipraj Nigam both claimed two scalps. Additionally, Dushmantha Chameera was successful.
With a 4-run knock in only 32 balls, supported by three fours and two sixes, Angkrish Raghuvanshi was the leading scorer for KKR. Sunil Narine (27), Rahmanullah Gurbaz (26), and captain Ajinkya Rahane (26) made significant contributions, even though Rinku Singh hit 36 runs off 25 deliveries.
