Google has taken a big step towards giving users a safe, clean, and reliable app experience by removing useless and unsafe apps from the Play Store.
If you have recently counted the apps on the Google Play Store, then you must have noticed that fewer apps are visible there than before and the reason for this is a big cleaning campaign of Google.
In fact, at the beginning of the year 2024, there were about 34 lakh apps on the Play Store, but now this number has come down to just 18 lakhs. That is, more than half the apps have been removed. At first glance, you will feel that something has gone wrong, but in reality, this is good news for the users.
Now know why:
1. Google is no longer sparing useless apps
Earlier, any app used to be put on the Play Store. Like an app with a single wallpaper, an app showing only text, or app that did not do anything. After which in July 2024, Google banned all these. Since then, the app which is of no use is being removed. That is, now you are being protected from useless or fake apps.
2. User security is now on top
Google not only removed useless apps but also stopped apps that could steal your data or harm the phone. According to a Hindustan Times report, 2.36 million (ie more than 23 lakh) dangerous apps have been blocked even before their launch. While more than 1.58 lakh fraudulent developers have been banned. Google has also started getting the app checked by both humans and AI. That is, now when you download an app, there is a high possibility of it being safe.
3. Many developers withdrew themselves due to the new rules
In 2024, a new rule came in Europe, in which it became necessary for every app maker to reveal his real identity (name and address). Those developers who did not want to do this, removed their apps on their own. This rule was implemented on Apple, but the number of apps there was not affected because there was already strictness there.
What was the result?
Google has made it clear that now only those apps will remain on the Play Store which are actually useful, safe and transparent. So yes, even if half the apps have been removed, the ones that are left are trustworthy. Now you will not have to get entangled in useless apps, and the world of Play Store has become even cleaner.
