Cricket News in Hindi: The Delhi High Court has sought a response from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to name AI Robot Dog 'Champak' in the IPL. The High Court, while hearing the application of the children's famous magazine Champak, has sought a response from the BCCI. Champak magazine has objected to the name of AI Robot Dog Champak and has allegedly described it as a violation of the trademark rule.
Justice Saurabh Banerjee said that Champak has always been an existing brand name and has also asked the BCCI to file his written reply in response to the petition within four weeks. The court has fixed the next hearing of the case on July 9. This petition has been filed by Delhi Press letter Publication Private Limited. This letter has been publishing Champak magazine since 1968.
Advocate Amit Gupta, who was presented by the publisher, has said that the name of Robot Dog 'Champak' would be considered a violation of its registered trademark. It also has a commercial exploitation, because Champak is a well-known brand that is running all over the country. However, senior lawyer J Sai Deepak, appearing for the BCCI, opposed the petition. He said that Champak is the name of a flower and people are connecting the robot dog not to the magazine, but to a vessel of the TV series.
At the time of hearing, the judge orally stated that cricketer Virat Kohli's Nickname is Chiku, one of the characters of Champak magazine. He asked why the publisher did not take action against him. Asked by the court, how it is a violation of the trademark, on behalf of the publisher, the lawyer said that the IPL is a commercial body and is based on advertising, marketing and earnings.
