Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) head coach Daniel Vettori admitted that his team has failed to deliver collective performances in the ongoing (IPL 2025). The 2016 champions must win all their remaining five matches to stay in contention for a spot in the playoffs.
SRH have only managed to win three matches and have lost six out of the nine they have played so far in IPL 2025. The management sent the entire contingent on a short vacation to the Maldives after they defeated Chennai Super Kings in their most recent fixture. On Friday, May 2, they will lock horns with Gujarat Titans at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad in what promises to be a riveting clash.
A dejected Vettori pointed out that the teams that are winning at the moment have been consistent across all three facets of the game: batting, bowling, and fielding.
“I don’t think we’ve put together complete performances. We’ve let ourselves down in one facet, probably in every match. You look at the good teams that are winning at the moment – they’ve been consistent across the board,” Vettori said in the pre-match press conference ahead of the clash against the Titans.
Vettori praises young batter Aniket amid SRH’s strugglesWhile Daniel Vettori expressed his displeasure with SRH’s overall performance, he had words of praise for the 23-year-old . Making his debut in the ongoing IPL edition, the right-handed batter has scored 190 runs from nine games at an average of 27.14, with a top score of 74.
“In terms of individuals, I’ve been very pleased with Aniket – coming into the side and the IPL for the first time and being able to play a style that’s really suited the team. He’s established himself as one of our key members,” Vettori added.
Gujarat and Hyderabad met earlier in the season at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium. The Shubman Gill-led side chased down a 153-run target in 16.4 overs with seven wickets to spare.
