Filmmaker Raj Kumar Gupta’s Raid 2, a sequel to his 2018 hit Raid, is turning out to be a massive box office hit.
Starring Ajay Devgn, Riteish Deshmukh and Vaani Kapoor, Raid 2 recorded strong advance booking, third best of the year and was expected to hit Rs 12-14 crore on day one, as per trade.
However, the film opened to strong response in the morning shows and with the positive word of mouth, it was expected to do better.
By the end of day one, Raid 2 exceeded industry expectations and overperformed by over 50 percent leaving the trade stunned.

Raid 2 has collected Rs 19.71 crore approx. on day one beating the likes of Shaitaan and Drishyam 2,and becoming Ajay Devgn’s fourth biggest opener.
In comparison, Raid in 2018 opened to Rs 10.04 crore.
Sharing the biz, trade analyst Taran Adarsh wrote, "'RAID 2' OPENS BIGGER THAN 'SHAITAAN', 'DRISHYAM 2', 'TANHAJI'... Moreover, it has become Riteish Deshmukh’s biggest opener beating the likes of Baaghi 3, Ek Villain and Housefull 4.
