Obnews Tech Desk: The Indian Army has provided 'Sambhav 5G smartphone' to its 30,000 personnel, strengthening cyber security. This smartphone is very different and equipped with advanced security from common mobiles. Sharing this information, Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi said that this phone was also used during a high-level talks on the Indo-China border in October 2023.
This project launched by the army is based on blockchain technology. The Sambhav smartphone works on the end-to-end mobile ecosystem, which keeps the communication completely safe. It has a full encryption feature, so that there is no risk of data leaks. The biggest feature is that there is no need to save contact in it – the numbers of senior army officers in the phone already are saved.
The Sambhav smartphone has an app called M-Sigma developed by the army, which resembles Whatsapp but is quite advanced in terms of security. Through this, the soldiers can safely share messages, video calls and necessary documents. This app is made only for internal use.
This smartphone is particularly optimized to the 5G network of Airtel and Jio to eliminate the possibility of data leaking on any public network along with fast connectivity.
A military official said, “In today's era, smartphones have become mandatory for all, but data security has become the biggest challenge. Sambhav smartphone is a solution to this concern.”
