Jajpur: A tragic incident unfolded on Labour Day when a 22-year-old worker named Arijit Jena from Jaraka village lost his life after reportedly being beaten and tortured by the owner and employees of a private stone crushing facility in Jajpur district. As per the complaint lodged by Arijit’s father, the distressing events took place at Padmabati Crusher located in Rahadpur, under the jurisdiction of Jenapur police.
Arijit had been employed at the crusher for three months before he went missing on April 27. His family managed to locate him at the residence of the crusher unit's owner, where they discovered him chained and in a critical state. He had sustained severe injuries, including burn marks from hot iron rods and multiple impacts to his chest and groin.
Reports indicate that his captors filmed the torture and issued threats to his family. Despite being rushed to a hospital later that morning, Arijit tragically succumbed to his injuries at 3:30 AM on May 1.
