Sharing the image to her 2.8million Instagram followers, said: "Our son. Our sun. Happy 6th birthday to ! Thank you for all of the love, prayers, and warm wishes for our sweet boy. He's six! Where did the time go?

"(And for all of you who came to celebrate with us at his party last weekend, thank you for making his birthday so incredibly special [love heart emoji])"

The young royal was born whilst the Duke and Duchess of Sussex lived in the UK, with the family moving to America shortly before his first birthday in 2020.

Born on May 6, 2019, the couple showed their newborn son to the world during a photocall at Windsor Castle two days after his birth.

Archie is thought to be celebrating his birthday at home in California with Meghan and his sister, three-year-old Lilibet. Prince Harry is set to spend the day separate from his son, .

Despite largely keeping their children out of the spotlight, Meghan has shared frequent pictures of both Archie and Lilibet to her Instagram account this year.

The 43-year-old, who rejoined Instagram back in January, has delighted fans with updates on her two little ones - including Lilibet, who will turn four next month.

But she doesn't show pictures of her children's faces, only the backs of their heads to maintain their privacy.
