MS Dhoni, the captain of the Chennai Super Kings (CSK), made IPL history by being the first wicketkeeper to register 200 dismissals in the competition. During their Wednesday encounter against the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata, they achieved a significant milestone.
Dhoni stumped Sunil Narine for 26 runs off the bowling of Noor Ahmad, setting a new dismissal record. Notably, Dhoni added to his total by dismissing Angkrish Raghuvanshi with a catch in the same over.
Dhoni has been dismissed 198 times before this match. He is now the top wicketkeeper in all categories with 200 dismissals, which include 153 catches and 47 stumpings.
KKR Will Not Compete in the 2025 IPL Playoffs
Here on Wednesday, the Chennai Super Kings defeated the Kolkata Knight Riders by a margin of two wickets, therefore eliminating the reigning champions from the IPL playoff picture.
Dewald Brevis led CSK in scoring with 52 off only 25 balls, while Shivam Dube and skipper MS Dhoni contributed with 45 and 17 not out, respectively, as they chased down the total of 180 with two balls remaining.
The most effective bowler for KKR was Vaibhav Arora (3/48) while Varun Chakaravarthy (2/18) and Harshit Rana (2/43) each claimed two wickets.
Earlier, KKR chose to bat and scored 179 for 6.
Ajinkya Rahane, the captain, scored the most runs (48), followed by Andre Russell (38), and Manish Pandey (36).
With four wickets, Noor Ahmad was the most effective bowler for CSK.
