The value of the house I live in, two plots of land—one given by my parents and the other I bought myself—and my savings total VND10 billion (US$384,948), yet I still worry about the future.
I am 36 years old, divorced for seven years, and currently earn VND20 million per month. My nine-year-old son lives with me, and his father provides VND2.5 million a month for child support.
I live with my parents in a house built on an inherited property that my parents have given to me and my son, but it cannot be sold, and it’s valued at nearly VND5 billion. Additionally, my parents gave me a plot of land worth VND2 billion. I’ve also managed to buy a plot of land worth VND1.5 billion and have VND1.5 billion in savings.
However, my job is very high-pressure, and I’m likely to face unemployment in the next few years. Given my age, finding another job to support myself will be very challenging. The thought of that situation constantly worries me about our future.
What would you do in my situation?
