The Pakistan Super League (PSL) is set to resume in the UAE after escalating military tensions between India and Pakistan forced a disruption in the league's schedule.

On May 8th, several drones from India were reported across multiple locations in Pakistan, following Indian missile strikes in reply for the Pahalgam terror attack in April.

Reports indicate that Pakistan claimed one of the drones was shot down overnight on Wednesday near Rawalpindi, one of the venues for the PSL games. India confirmed its drone response came after Pakistan allegedly attempted to engage military targets late Tuesday.

In light of these developments, Pakistan immediately postponed the tournament. It is expected to be several days before the next game is played, as the PCB works out suitable venues for the rescheduled matches.

According to ESPNcricinfo, foreign players had expressed concerns over security and were considering opting out of the tournament. As a result, players are now en route from Pakistan to the UAE, where the league will take place.

An earlier update from the PCB confirmed the league would be rescheduled but did not initially clarify that it would be moved out of Pakistan, with Karachi being considered a possible location.

The league, now in its tenth season, originally began in the UAE in 2016 and played its first two seasons there entirely, except for the 2017 final. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, parts of the 2021 season were also hosted in the UAE.

Bangladesh Series in Doubt

While the PSL is set to resume in the UAE, the delay in the tournament will have implications for Pakistan's international calendar as well.
