Indian cricket team Legendary and famous opener Rohit Sharma Has retired from Test cricket. He has said goodbye to his long Test career over 10 years. 38 -year -old Rohit announced the announcement in an emotional post on Instagram and thanked him for getting a chance to play a Test for India. Rohit also made it clear that he would still continue to play ODI cricket and remain a part of Team India.
Rohit Sharma's retirement time was shocking for many fans, especially because it came just before the big Test series against England. However, questions about his Test career were already arising, because in recent times his form had fallen and there was a discussion about the new captain in the BCCI.
In an interview after retirement, Rohit told what was the reason for his decision. They said, “Everyone needs a young captain… who can captain the team for 10-15 years. So I started feeling that I will not get this opportunity now. But I would always be grateful that I got a chance to captain.”
Rohit's statement clearly shows that he understands the long plan of the team and believes that now a young player can be given this responsibility.
According to several reports, Rohit Sharma was thinking of retiring from Test cricket since winning the Champions Trophy earlier this year. He felt that this is a perfect time with the introduction of the new World Test Championship (WTC) cycle, so that a young player could handle captaincy and create a team for the coming years.
Reports also reported that BCCI selectors had already reached the decision of the new Test captain for the tour of England. That is, Rohit was being removed and a well-planned new beginning was being made in the team.
However, BCCI wanted to keep Rohit captain in limited overs format, as he recently gave great success. But in view of his falling form and the future of the team in the Test, the selectors thought it necessary to change.
Even though Rohit's deputy Jaspreet Bumrah captained a Test, but being a fast bowler, the board has been a little hesitant to make him a fulltime captain, as it may increase the risk of his injury.
