New Delhi: The All Indian Cine Workers Association (AICWA) has strongly criticised Pakistani actors Mahira Khan and Fawad Khan’s ‘anti-India’ remarks over India’s Operation Sindoor. The Cine Workers Association has also reiterated its long-standing demand for a complete ban on Pakistani artists in India.
The association released a strong-worded press release where they condemned comments made by Mahira Khan and Fawad Khan. For the unversed, Fawad Khan has worked in Indian movies such as Kapoor & Sons and Khoobsurat, while Mahira has starred in Shah Rukh Khan’s Raees.
In its press release, AICWA stated that Mahira Khan referred to India’s military response as “seriously cowardly” and Fawad Khan supported “divisive narratives” instead of condemning terrorism. The association further called their remarks “disrespectful to the nation” and “an insult to the brave soldiers who sacrificed their lives for the country”.
The association further stated that it maintains a “strict and complete ban on Pakistani artists, filmmakers and financers from working in India”, adding, “No Indian artist will collaborate with any Pakistani talent, nor will any global platform be shared with them.”
The AICWA further added, “Casting Pakistani actor Fawad Khan despite the Pulwama attack, where several Indian soldiers were martyred—what message do such filmmakers want to convey? They even came to India to release this film, showing complete disregard for the nation’s sentiments. This is a disgrace to the sacrifices made by our brave soldiers.”
It also stated, “This is not just about art, it is about standing with your country during critical moments. Our nation must come first… Indian artists and filmmakers must decide whether they will stand with their nation or continue to engage with those who openly oppose it.”
The outrage of the All Indian Cine Workers Association follows after Mahira Khan and Fawad Khan condemned Operation Sindoor carried out by India against nine terror camps in Pakistan. Fawad Khan referred to the Indian military action as a “shameful attack”, while Mahira Khan wrote, “Seriously, cowardly! May Allah protect our country, may better sense prevail. Ameen.”
