Various parts of India are seeing changes in weather. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued heavy rains, thunderstorms, lightning and heat warnings for the next few days in many states including Delhi, Punjab, Haryana.
The IMD has warned of extremely heavy rainfall in Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim on 12 May. These areas may blow strong winds at a speed of 50–60 km per hour, which are called Thunderskwall.
Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura are expected to have heavy rains from May 12 to 15, with great heavy rains on May 13 in Meghalaya. The risk of floods and landslides in these states may increase, so local administration and residents have been advised to be vigilant.
The weather patterns are also changing in North India. There is a possibility of strong thunderstorms, lightning, and light rain on May 12 in Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Delhi, and North Rajasthan. IMD has warned that lightning may cause loss of life and property.
People have been appealed not to stay under open grounds and trees. In Delhi-NCR, this weather can give relief from heat, but the problem of waterlogging and traffic jam on the roads can also arise.
In Central Maharashtra, Marathwada, Vidarbha, Gujarat, Chhattisgarh, Eastern Rajasthan, and Madhya Pradesh, light to moderate rains are estimated from 12 to 15 May.
In these areas, winds may blow at a speed of 40–50 km per hour. Farmers have been advised to take necessary steps to protect crops from damage. Electricity supply and traffic may be affected in urban areas, so make preparations in advance.
The weather trend is also changing in South India. Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Kerala, Telangana, Rayalaseema, and internal Karnataka will rain with thunderstorms from May 12 to 15. Costal can run thunderskwall at a speed of 70 kmph in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana on 13–14 May.
There is a warning of heavy rains from 13 to 16 May in Tamil Nadu, Rayalaseema, and Puducherry. Fishermen are advised not to go into the sea, as the Andaman-Nicobar, Coomorin, and Somalia coast will blow strong winds of 45–55 km per hour.
While many states will be caused by rain, the heat and humid weather can be disturbed in Bihar, West Bengal, Jharkhand, Kerala, Puducherry, and parts of Tamil Nadu.
IMD has advised people to wear light clothes, drink plenty of water, and come out in the sun to avoid the heat. Especially children and the elderly have been asked to take special care.
The IMD has appealed people to monitor the weather alert and follow the instructions of the local administration. Keep the umbrella or raincoat with the umbrella or raincoat while exiting the house.
Stay away from trees or open places to avoid lightning. Take care during driving, as strong winds and waterlogging can be dangerous. Farmers are advised to cover crops and arrange irrigation. This is the time of weather change, and some caution can protect you.
