Television actress Rupali Ganguly, currently seen in the serial Anupamaa, publicly called for a boycott of Turkey, urging fellow celebrities, influencers, and travellers to cancel their bookings to the country, citing Turkey’s support for Pakistan following India’s Operation Sindoor — a mission launched on May 7 targeting nine terror launch pads in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) in retaliation for the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam, which claimed 26 lives. On Tuesday, Rupali took to her X (formerly Twitter) and wrote, "Can we please cancel our bookings for Turkey. This is my request to all Indian Celebs/Influencers/Travellers. This is the least we can do as Indians. #BoycottTurkey."Check it out:After Rupali's strong stand against Turkey, several netizens lauded her for voicing her opinion on social media, unlike other celebrities who have allegedly remained silent amid the rising tensions between India and Pakistan. One user commented on Ganguly's post, "Absolutely! If we're serious about standing against terror, Indigo and all Indian airlines must immediately suspend flights to Turkey. We can't let our hard-earned money fund those who support attacks on our soldiers. #BoycottTurkey - let's make it loud and clear." Another said, "done cancelled my family trip." A third user's comment read, "Maybe you’re an exception, but 98% of your TV and film industry remained silent on the Pahalgam victims and Operation Sindoor. The public think they are all trait0rs —boycotts of Bollywood and the TV industry are inevitable. There’s growing resentment toward those who earn in India yet show no love or respect for the nation. I urge the government to impose a 70% tax on them."Earlier, singer Vishal Mishra also announced that he will no longer perform concerts in Turkey and Azerbaijan. On Friday (May 9), the singer took to his X (formerly Twitter) and wrote, "Never ever going to #Turkey and #Azerbaijan! No leisure no concerts! Mark My Words! Never!!"Turkey and Azerbaijan issued statements on May 8 in which both nations expressed support for Pakistan and criticised India's airstrikes targeting terror camps.
