Teaser Removal Sparks Controversy

The highly awaited teaser for the comedy film Housefull 5 was taken down from YouTube on May 9 due to a copyright claim from Mofusion Studios regarding the song 'Laal Pari.' This teaser was initially released on April 30 through the official channel of Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment.

Directed by Tarun Mansukhani, Housefull 5 is scheduled to hit theaters on June 6, 2025. However, the teaser is currently unavailable on YouTube, and attempts to access it lead to a message stating, 'The video is no longer available due to a copyright claim by Mofusion Studios.'

Yo Yo Honey Singh's Declaration

Reports indicate that Yo Yo Honey Singh has provided a written statement asserting that he is the exclusive rights holder of the track 'Laal Pari,' which he has licensed solely to Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment.

A source close to the situation informed that the issue arose because 'Laal Pari' was featured in the Housefull 5 teaser. Mofusion Studios claims ownership of the song, but Yo Yo Honey Singh has confirmed in writing to Sajid Nadiadwala that he retains all rights to 'Laal Pari.'

Legal Action Initiated

With substantial evidence in hand, Sajid Nadiadwala has opted to pursue legal action against both parties involved. The source elaborated that the producer's decision to take legal steps stems from the unfair removal of the teaser, especially given the reputation of Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment as a leading production house in Indian cinema. They believe that YouTube should have consulted them before removing the teaser, particularly since their channel boasts over 1.6 million subscribers and has never faced such allegations before.

On May 12, legal notices were sent to YouTube, demanding the immediate re-upload of the teaser or a defamation suit amounting to ₹25 crores. The source stated, 'The legal team of Nadiadwala Grandson has requested YouTube to restore the teaser promptly or face damages of ₹25 crores.'

Teaser Still Accessible on Social Media

Despite the takedown on YouTube, the Housefull 5 teaser remains available on Instagram, as several cast members, including Akshay Kumar, Jacqueline Fernandez, Riteish Deshmukh, and Sonam Bajwa, have shared the video on their official accounts. Mofusion Studios, the entity behind the copyright claim, is recognized as an Indian music label that collaborates with artists like Diljit Dosanjh and Jasmine Sandlas.
