Many viewers have mocked Chinese actor Huang Xiaoming for his slow “one-finger” typing speed, questioning his skills after news emerged that he had applied for a PhD program.

According to Znews, World Journal reported that Huang’s typing skills have raised concerns, with some speculating that at his current pace, it would take him 10 years to complete the 10,000-word thesis required for the PhD program at the Shanghai Theater Academy, where he had applied.

This is not the first time Huang has been criticized for his typing skills. In 2019, during the airing of his film “The Bravest,” a scene depicting him typing led to widespread mockery. Following his divorce announcement from Chinese actress Angelababy in 2022, some viewers were reminded of his slow typing speed, joking: “No wonder his divorce announcement was so brief.”

Huang previously admitted in an interview: “I don’t know how to use a computer. I can only type with one finger.”

“It’s funny to admit that I don’t know how to type, but that’s the truth,” he added. “Looking back, it really doesn’t affect my life.”

Before this incident, Huang’s application for the PhD program in Art Management and Stage Planning had garnered positive feedback, with many praising the actor’s commitment to pursuing further education at the age of 48.

Huang is widely known in China for his roles in popular dramas such as “The Return of the Condor Heroes,” “Shanghai Bund,” and “Summer’s Desire.”

The actor’s personal life has frequently made headlines. He married Angelababy in 2015 after a five-year relationship, but they announced their divorce in Jan. 2022, as reported by The Straits Times.

Following the split, Huang began a relationship with model and online influencer Ye Ke, who is also divorced.
