Pakistan’s pacer Haris Rauf has again taken the limelight on social media—this time, however, for a ridiculously expressionless face while visiting a Chinese skincare clinic in Islamabad.
In a now-viral clip, Rauf stands next to Chinese skincare expert Dr. Hanfei, who practices in Islamabad and Rawalpindi as a plastic surgeon and aesthetician. While Dr. Hanfei is speaking enthusiastically in Mandarin, Haris Rauf is stoic, deferentially nodding along and making faint smiles, even though he visibly has no clue what’s being said.
The caption of the video was: “Pakistani cricketer Haris Rauf came to my clinic for skin care treatment, thank you. I am Dr. Hanfei, a plastic surgeon and aesthetic expert with practice in Islamabad and Rawalpindi.”
But the viral appeal of the video did not arise from any dermatological procedure or medical observation—it was Haris Rauf’s stoic face, incessant nodding, and his polite silence in the midst of complete linguistic disorientation that hooked people. The softly spoken “thank you” at the end was the icing on the cake.
Social media users soon filled the comments section with memes and jokes. One of them wrote, “Haris Rauf is in trauma,” and another made a joke, “Haris, blink twice if you’re in trouble.” Someone else likened the moment to those of their group presentations in university: “That’s exactly how I look during them.”
Another chimed in humorously, “Didn’t understand a word, but it felt good to hear.”
Interestingly enough, there is no real skincare procedure demonstrated in the video, but the exchange has caught on as a classic lesson in how to navigate embarrassing moments graciously—regardless of whether you have any idea what’s going on.
The video also brought back another 2021 viral clip, when Rauf looked visibly perplexed during an interview after a match with Indian sport journalist Anjum Chopra, who spoke high-level Hindi. His puzzled faces were meme material at the time and saw even former Pakistan skipper Wasim Akram mimic his expressions live on TV.
It’s safe to say Haris Rauf’s reactions—to Hindi or Mandarin—are still taking the internet by storm with their offbeat, unintentionally funny charm.
