What is Prelims
The UPSC Preliminary Exam (Prelims) is a kind of screening exam. The marks obtained in this are not added to the final merit list. This means that the purpose of the prelims is only to decide which candidates are eligible to appear in the Mains exam. Only those candidates who pass the prelims will be able to appear in the main exam. In the rank that is formed at the end, only the marks of the main exam and interview are added, not those of the prelims.
This is how questions are asked, know the complete pattern.
The preliminary exam of the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) consists of two objective (MCQ-based) papers, each of which is of 200 marks. The first paper is General Studies Paper-I, in which questions related to subjects related to history, geography, politics, economy, science and technology as well as current affairs are asked. The second paper is CSAT (Civil Services Aptitude Test), also known as General Studies Paper-II. In this, the ability to understand, logical thinking, mathematical skills and analytical ability of the candidates are tested.
The main examination will be held on this date
Both papers are in Hindi and English language and two hours are given for each paper. The special thing is that the CSAT paper is only qualifying, that is, it is necessary to pass this paper, but its marks are not added to the merit. To pass the CSAT, it is mandatory for the candidate to get at least 33% marks (66 marks). Let us tell you that the main examination is likely to start from August 22.
