Lille OSC midfielder Angel Gomes (24) has today confirmed that he will depart at the end of his contract, bringing an end to a four-season spell that began in 2020. The 24-year-old confirmed the news via Instagram on Monday evening, just days after Jonathan David also signalled his exit from the club.

“After four unforgettable seasons in Lille, it’s time for me to say goodbye,” Gomes wrote. “This club has been more than a team — it’s been my family, my home, and a place that has shaped me both on and off the pitch.” The former Manchester United academy product initially joined Lille as a free agent in the summer of 2020 following the expiry of his contract at Old Trafford. He spent his first campaign on loan at Boavista in Portugal before integrating into the LOSC first team in 2021. Over four seasons, the versatile attacking midfielder made 134 appearances across all competitions, scoring 10 goals and providing 19 assists.

According to a report from The teamGomes is being followed by several European clubs – with fellow Ligue 1 side Marseille making contact with the Englishman. Fabrizio Romano reports that the Olympique side are well in the race to sign the midfielder, among several other clubs.
