Legendary Pakistani actor Asif Raza Mir recently made a gracious and thoughtful statement about the relationship between his son Ahad Raza Mir and former daughter-in-law Sajal Aly, displaying wisdom and maturity in addressing the topic.
Sajal Aly and Ahad Raza Mir were married on March 14, 2020, in Abu Dhabi. The couple was widely loved by the public and considered one of the most adored celebrity pairs in the country. However, their absence from each other’s lives began to raise questions, especially after Ahad and his entire family did not attend the wedding of Sajal’s sister, Saboor Aly, on January 22, 2022. This absence fueled rumors of a separation.
Despite remaining silent on the matter, both Sajal and Ahad later unfollowed each other on Instagram and removed pictures together from their accounts. These actions were clear indicators that something significant had changed between them.
Eventually, the couple quietly separated. Though they were seen together at a few events afterward, these encounters appeared to be professional rather than personal. Both Sajal and Ahad have since moved on with their respective lives.
In a recent interview on Maliha Rehman’s YouTube show, Asif Raza Mir spoke openly about the divorce. He revealed that he is currently working with Sajal Aly in the upcoming drama Main Manto Nahi Hoon. Speaking about the collaboration, he shared that although questions were raised at the time of casting, both he and Sajal agreed to move forward with professionalism and maturity.
He said the project was an opportunity for growth for both of them. They made a conscious decision to work together without dwelling on the past. Asif Raza Mir also referred to the viral videos of Sajal and Ahad from a recent HUM TV event, saying that his family is mature enough not to be affected by such things. Having spent decades in the entertainment industry, he understands that people will talk, but he believes the real focus should be on learning to move forward.
He reflected that relationships are formed and sometimes break due to circumstances. What truly matters, he said, is not reopening old wounds but continuing with life, which all of them have done.
He also mentioned that he plays the role of Sajal Aly’s father in Main Manto Nahi Hoon and praised her for accepting the role with strength and professionalism, acknowledging her courage in handling the situation with grace.
